Have you ever had the feeling that you wanted to relive those days back in the early 80′s in the arcades? Do you long to play Frogger, Asteroids, Space Invaders, Q-Bert and other arcade games like they were meant to be played with a full sized arcade game, but don’t want to plunk down $1,000 or more for the real thing (they also take up a lot of space)?
Well, a friend of mine (this hot chick that wants to date me but that ain’t going to happen because she just isn’t my type) bought me this little thing called the Thinkgeek Icade. It is way cool. It looks like a miniature arcade game and has all the right buttons and controls. You just supply the Apple iPad and plug it in and download some apps at the iTunes app store or download them (I got mine from BTJunkie for free).
Then you just start playing them and it is way cool. It isn’t a full sized game like the ones in the arcade that you would have to stand in front of, but it is better because you can play it while sitting on a couch or even outback on your patio (like I do on sunny and warm days).
It even has a realistic looking wood base and coin slot. I am going to get a lot more of these games through my VPN and play them all. I wonder if they have Centipede and Dig Dug out or available yet. That would be sweet. I miss the old days of the arcades and getting a pocket full of quarters and playing all day long.
Nowadays the games are like $1 or $2 per short play and it is just ridiculous. Many malls don’t even have arcades anymore. Last one I went to was at Dave & Busters here and it was just ridiculous. Some games required more than $2 to play per person. With the Thinkgeek Icade arcade I can download games for my Ipad for free and then play them all day long.
I get pretty much the same or even a better experience as I don’t have to hang around at the arcade or drive to the mall and I am saving a ton of dough (money)! The screen is a little smaller, but it is way cool and portable. I have even taken it on some long car trips (I would much rather play the games then listen to my girlfriend yap about clothes and shopping).
