I have finally had it. The email I have with Yahoo is getting so slow and it virtually locks up for a half an hour or so at a time. I use it for my online Ebay business and as anyone knows with Ebay customers (the most anal people in the world) you need to return their emails ASAP or they will lodge a bogus complaint against you and be given their money back even if they got the right item delivered in a timely manner.
With Ebays policy on customer item not received and item not as described complaints the customer is now always right. Only in extremely rare cases – like the jackass from Jacksonville Florida that ordered the car wax from me and kept extorting me to send it free to all his buddies up and down the Florida coast. I took a bunch of the emails he sent me and forwarded them to Ebay and in 2 days time he was no longer a valid Ebay user. That was the quickest turnaround time I have seen from Ebay’s Safe Harbor investigations team.
But, most of the time (I would have to say 99.9999% of the time) Ebay finds for the buyer and you are then out the price of the item and shipping and handling fees. That really sucks. And what sucks even worse is this Yahoo email service. It is so slow it is just down right terrible.
Out of nowhere it just bogs down and becomes incredibly slow or just completely locks up. I have seen it take 20 minutes to just retrieve a new email so I can read it. Sometimes it gets stuck when its loading up some of the advertising it puts on the right side (such a waste of my time and theirs as I never look at it and I have never clicked on a one of these ads in over 7 years). I am pretty sure no one else does either.
So, the ads might be part of the reason, but this is happening every day now it seems. I wake up in the morning and everything else seems fine, but the Yahoo email gets so slow and bogged down that I literally have to wait 30 minutes or so to use it. And then, even after that, it is still slow and randomly it will get stuck on the most mundane tasks of all – reading emails from my inbox.
As I said earlier, I need to be able to read these emails – especially the ones from Ebay customers – in a timely manner. Not when Yahoo feels I should. I have a feeling that to cut costs Yahoo has cut back bandwidth on their email service. So I decided to try Google gmail and guess what happened? No more delays and no more locking up at all.
I get my emails faster and never have a problem. So, I have now switched permanently to Google’s Gmail email service and if you are currently using Yahoo’s email service like I was then I highly recommend that you immediately switch to either Google Gmail or something else that is equally as fast.
